When Emily was 12 she began her training at Venue of Performing Arts as a student herself where she trained in all genres before deciding to audition for performing arts colleges to further her training. Whilst training at Venue, Emily took part in performances in some of Londons biggest Westend theatres including Her Majesty’s Theatre and Sadlers Wells. Emily also competed in the Senior team at ‘Can You Dance?’ in 2013.
In 2013, Emily then went on to train at Londons leading commercial dance college The Urdang Academy in London on a scholarship where she graduated with a Level 6 Diploma in Musical Theatre. Whilst in training Emily worked with choreographer Dean Lee featuring in his girls commercial numbers each year (choreographer for Janet Jackson, Little Mix and Kylie Minogue). Emily also was lucky enough to take a workshop with Elizabeth Honan (Little Mix choreographer). Whilst at Urdang Emily performed in London’s prestigious venue The Hackney Empire for 2 consecutive years and The Shaw Theatre in London Kings Cross for her agency showcase. Upon graduating Emily was lucky enough to gain representation from an agency that would see her to go on and audition for Cruise Ships, TV adverts and some of Westends well known musicals.
Whilst in her third year of studying at Urdang Emily was lucky enough to be given her first professional job as dancer and understudy for Imagine Pantomimes where she has continued to work for the last 5 years. These pantomimes reach ticket sales of up to 35,000 and is one of the UK’s leading pantomime companies.
Since September 2018 Emily has been with us as our full time Singing and Musical Theatre teacher.
‘I couldn’t think of a better place to start my teaching career than at the dance school that made it all happen for me when I was young, it feels amazing to give back and nurture young talent and be a part of their journey. Without Venue I would not be where I am today’
